Marginal growth for air traffic in January

 

 

NATS, the UK’s leading provider of air traffic services, handled one per cent more flights in January than in the same month last year.

Air traffic control centres showed a rise in traffic with London Area Control and Terminal Control posting growth of 1.3 and 0.1 per cent respectively.

Scottish area control handled 3.3 per cent more traffic and Oceanic traffic increased by 7.1 per cent.  Manchester showed a reduction in traffic of 2.9 per cent.

Overall, airports where NATS provides ATC service saw a 1.6 per cent decrease in traffic, although Farnborough and London City continued to show strong growth with 12.3 and 10.2 per cent respectively.

The strongest European market was Poland, up 38.4 per cent year on year. Traffic between the UK and Switzerland and Norway recorded rises of 16.3 and 10.3 per cent.
