Top-level appointments announced in airport services

Brandon Chapman has been appointed by National Air Traffic Services (NATS) as Director Airport Services. He succeeds Peter Wilde, who retires at the end of the year after 40 years with the Company.

Currently NATS Manager Airport Services, Brandon Chapman takes up his new role in January 2004, reporting to Chief Executive Richard Everitt. Brandon will be succeeded by Lloyd Brown, presently General Manager (Air Traffic Services) at Birmingham Airport. Both posts are based at Heathrow.

Richard Everitt commented: "These appointments will build on the great success achieved in our airports business under Peter Wilde's leadership. Both Brandon and Lloyd bring immense operational and senior management experience to their new roles and will play a critical part in driving forward National Air Traffic Services' airport division."

He added: "We all owe Peter Wilde a tremendous debt. He has devoted his working life to the Company, for the last 12 years as Director Airport Services and prior to that in several senior roles including Head of Operational Resource Planning. In the long run-up to the Public Private Partnership in 2001, Peter led the way in ensuring that NATS Airport Services was established as a viable stand-alone division."

Brandon, 53, has been Manager Airport Services since 2001, and prior to that was Head of Operational Strategy. Lloyd Brown, 57, has been General Manager Air Traffic Services at Birmingham Airport since 2000, and before that, was General Manager of NATS' College of Air Traffic Control at Bournemouth. There, he was responsible for the recruitment and training of NATS controllers and also the training of air traffic controllers from many of the 100 or so countries who have entrusted their training to NATS.

An announcement regarding the new General Manager for Birmingham Airport will be made in the New Year.
