Course Aims:
To train Engineers in restoration and first level maintenance of the 3208 Racal DVOR MK 2A by fault diagnosis down to Line Replaceable Units.
Course Description:
This course includes the principles of operation of the Doppler VOR System to Block Schematic level and circuit detail to LRU level.
A high practical content is included and all maintenance procedures will be practised.
Training Objectives:
On completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe, with the aid of block schematic diagrams, the function and operation of the complete system and its component units in terms of signal flow and format.
- Set up and adjust the system to full operational status from a quiescent state.
- Perform routine tests and inspections, to determine the operational status of the system and its component units, including control and protection circuits, power supply units, aerials and aerial feeders.
- Make any adjustments necessary, to maintain the operational status of the system.
- Recognise the existence of anomalous or fault conditions and diagnose the cause down to Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level with the aid of relevant technical publications.
- Repair faults at LRU level by replacement with serviceable items.
- Use efficiently, any special test instruments, tools or devices required to set up and maintain the system, including built in test facilities and diagnostic routines.
- Perform all routine preventive maintenance as specified in the approved technical documentation.
Course Pre-requisites:
Students need to have successfully completed any other DVOR equipment course, or alternatively, a DVOR Principles course.
