To train Engineers in restoration and first level maintenance of the 3208 Racal DVOR MK 2A by fault diagnosis down to Line Replaceable Units.

This course includes the principles of operation of the Doppler VOR System to Block Schematic level and circuit detail to LRU level.

A high practical content is included and all maintenance procedures will be practised.

On completion of the course, the student will be able to:

Describe, with the aid of block schematic diagrams, the function and operation of the complete system and its component units in terms of signal flow and format.
Set up and adjust the system to full operational status from a quiescent state.
Perform routine tests and inspections, to determine the operational status of the system and its component units, including control and protection circuits, power supply units, aerials and aerial feeders.
Make any adjustments necessary, to maintain the operational status of the system.
Recognise the existence of anomalous or fault conditions and diagnose the cause down to Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level with the aid of relevant technical publications.
Repair faults at LRU level by replacement with serviceable items.
Use efficiently, any special test instruments, tools or devices required to set up and maintain the system, including built in test facilities and diagnostic routines.
Perform all routine preventive maintenance as specified in the approved technical documentation.

Students need to have successfully completed any other DVOR equipment course, or alternatively, a DVOR Principles course.
