Course Aims:
To train Engineers to Depth B level on the Normarc NM7000A ILS equipment.
Course Description:
Enables successful students to set up and maintain this equipment, down to LRU level.
Training Objectives:
On completion of the course, and with the aid of relevant documentation, the delegate will be able to:-
- Describe the system functionality with the aid of schematic block diagrams.
- Set up and adjust the system to standard operating conditions as defined in the maintenance schedule and transfer configuration data as necessary.
- Perform routine tests and inspections to verify normal operational status of the system including control, monitor and protection circuits and power supply units.
- Demonstrate all adjustments necessary to maintain the operational status of the system within the limits defined in the maintenance schedule.
- Diagnose faults to Line Replaceable Unit level and restore service making use of Remote and Local Maintenance Monitoring facilities and special test equipment.
- State the functions of all relevant documentation and the reporting mechanism for faults and problems/issues.
- Explain the safety features of the ILS equipment and how to protect their integrity.
- Describe the function and operation of each unit in terms of signal format.
- Demonstrate setting-up and adjustment for commissioning.
- Describe routine tests and inspections to verify normal operational status of the aerials, feeders and support structures.
- Demonstrate operation of the RMM in terms of functionality, operation and use for corrective and preventative maintenance.
Course Pre-requisites:
- ILS principles to the standard of the CET ILS Principles course TTR1190
- Use of standard ILS test equipment
- Communications Service Monitor TTR4570
