Course Aims:
To introduce students to the concepts and practical considerations associated with networks.
Course Description:
A comprehensive course, introducing a variety of networking concepts, including network management.
Training Objectives:
On completion of the course, and with the aid of the relevant documentation, the student will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of data communications
- Describe the concepts of Data transmission
- Describe using an overall block schematic, the function and the performance of the systems in use.
- Demonstrate an awareness of connectivity of systems.
- Describe basic associated software functions/applications
- Demonstrate an awareness of protocols
- Demonstrate an awareness of ATC specific requirements for data communications.
- Explain the functionality and the use of networks
- Describe the different types of network
- Describe the functions of a management system
- Demonstrate the functions of a management system
- Demonstrate an awareness of a range of network-related ATC concept

A basic understanding of computers.
