Course Aims:

To introduce students to the concepts and practical considerations associated with networks.

Course Description:

A comprehensive course, introducing a variety of networking concepts, including network management.

Training Objectives:

On completion of the course, and with the aid of the relevant documentation, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of data communications
  • Describe the concepts of Data transmission
  • Describe using an overall block schematic, the function and the performance of the systems in use.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of connectivity of systems.
  • Describe basic associated software functions/applications
  • Demonstrate an awareness of protocols
  • Demonstrate an awareness of ATC specific requirements for data communications.
  • Explain the functionality and the use of networks
  • Describe the different types of network
  • Describe the functions of a management system
  • Demonstrate the functions of a management system
  • Demonstrate an awareness of a range of network-related ATC concept

Course Pre-requisites:

A basic understanding of computers.
