Course Aims:
To train engineers in carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on the NDB (SA50) Non Directional Beacon and Southern Avionics Antenna Coupler.
Course Description:
To train Engineers on the principles of operation of a non-directional beacon.
Training Objectives:
At the completion of the course, with the aid of appropriate documentation, the student will be able to:
- Describe, with the aid of schematic block diagrams, the function and operation of the system in terms of signal flow format
- State the standard operating conditions
- Understand the function of front panel indications and switches, and to monitor the status of the equipment and identify abnormal indications
- Perform the planned and corrective maintenance as defined in the MS
- Diagnose faults to LRU level as appropriate, replacing the faulty item
- Set up the equipment in accordance with the manufacturers handbook
